Carmelita is a self-taught makeup artist who defines her work as rebellious, creative, and tasteful. Her journey into art began at the age of nine when she started drawing realistic portraits of celebrities and other inspirational figures. She would hyperfocus on her drawings, often spending up to eight hours in uninterrupted concentration, honing her keen eye for shadow, light, and meticulous detail.
Raised by a Scottish mother who loved to spend hours on her hair, makeup, and fashion, Carmelita was deeply inspired by her mother’s passion for beauty. From a young age, Carmelita exhibited her own creative flair. At eight years old, she first fell in love with creative makeup by smearing her mother’s bright plum pink MAC lipstick all over her face while posing in the mirror. Astonished by how cool it looked, she began to see makeup not as a set of rules, but as a form of art and expression.
In the fall of 2020, Carmelita began building her portfolio as a professional makeup artist, collaborating with like-minded creatives. Her dedication paid off, and at the beginning of 2022, she achieved her goal of pursuing makeup artistry full-time, leaving her job to focus solely on her passion.
